The Operator Morning Routine
4:45 AM. No alarm arguments. The framework that sets the tone for every single day — built around faith, iron, and the operator mindset.
HOW THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK IS DONE BEFORE 7:30 AM
4:45 AM — Prayer & Scripture
Faith is the foundation. Before the market opens, before the weights are loaded, before the phone touches my hand — I go to God. This isn’t performative. It’s the anchor that makes everything else sustainable. Without this step, the rest of the routine is just hustle. With it, it’s purpose.
5:15 AM — Jiu Jitsu or Heavy Weights
The mat or the bar doesn’t negotiate. Jiu Jitsu teaches you that no matter your title, your net worth, or your reputation — the ground is the great equalizer. Heavy weights teach you that progress requires discomfort. Four days per week of strength training. Zone 2 on the other days. No days off from movement.
6:30 AM — Markets & Crude Oil Review
Running Ikon Group Investments means I never sleep in on the markets. Crude prices, energy sector movement, overnight geopolitical shifts — this review happens before my team starts their day. The operator who stays informed leads better. Ignorance is not a strategy.
7:00 AM — Harvard Executive Work
Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan aren’t trophies — they’re tools. The executive education curriculum gets worked before the phone starts ringing. Learning at the highest level is non-negotiable. The man who stops learning stops leading.
THE PRINCIPLE
Discipline is not a feeling.
It is a standard you hold whether you feel like it or not.
Most people are still deciding whether to hit snooze. The most important work of my day is already complete by 7:30 AM. That’s not luck. That’s a system.
