The 7-Month Transformation

256 lbs to 180.1 lbs.
Age 50. No Excuses.

This is the full story — the protocol, the failures, the exact system that produced a 70-pound transformation while running a company and raising a family.

THE BREAKING POINT

There Was No Rock Bottom.
That Was the Problem.

Most transformation stories start with a dramatic moment — a health scare, a doctor’s warning, a family intervention. Mine didn’t. It was quieter and, in some ways, more dangerous.

I was a high-functioning guy in decline. Successful enough that no one was sounding the alarm. Busy enough that the drift felt justified. At 256 pounds, I was still closing deals, still sharp in meetings, still hitting the marks the world cared about.

But I knew. I knew every time I avoided a mirror. Every time I made a promise to start Monday that died by Tuesday. Every time I watched my kids run and felt that small sting of “I should be able to do that.”

The breaking point wasn’t a crisis. It was a decision. A decision to stop tolerating the gap between who I was professionally and who I was physically. The same standard applied to both — or it applied to neither.

“You are not too old. You are too comfortable. There’s a difference — and only one of those is fixable.”

The 7-Month Protocol

01

Wake Protocol: 4:45 AM

No snooze. No negotiation. The morning is non-negotiable because high-achievers are conditioned to honor commitments — so I made this one to myself. 20 oz water. Light movement. Mindset work before the world woke up and had opinions.

02

Training: Jiu Jitsu + Strength

3x per week jiu jitsu for functional athleticism, mental clarity, and accountability structure. 3x strength training. Zero cardio-only sessions — every rep had a purpose. Heart rate elevated, ego checked daily.

03

Nutrition: 1g Protein Per Pound

Simple. Aggressive. 190g protein per day, minimum. Not complicated macros — one rule applied with ruthless consistency. Alcohol: near zero. Sugar: treated like a threat. Hunger: managed with volume and protein, not willpower.

04

Sleep: 7 Hours Non-Negotiable

Sleep was the force multiplier. I stopped treating it like a variable and started protecting it like a board meeting. Asleep by 10. Devices out of the bedroom. Temperature dialed. Recovery was part of the protocol, not optional.

05

Accountability: The Pit Crew

No man goes elite alone. I built a pit crew — a small group of men who held the standard. Not a cheerleading section. People who would call out a missed week, challenge an excuse, and celebrate a PR. The community is half the protocol.

06

Faith: God First

Morning prayer before training. Gratitude journaling. Purpose larger than aesthetics. This wasn’t a faith project or a fitness project — it was both, fused. The discipline ran deeper because the “why” ran deeper.

  • High stress eating
  • No morning routine
  • Promising to “start Monday”
  • Present physically, absent mentally
After — Age 50+
  • 180.1 lbs
  • Energy through the close of business
  • Posture, presence, confidence
  • 6x weekly training

“I watched Rhett do this in real time. I thought it was genetics or some secret program only executives get. Then I read the Blueprint and realized — it’s just a standard applied with conviction. I’m down 38 lbs in 5 months at 52 years old.”
— David, 52, Houston
